For the first time since 2019, Arbor celebrated Peace Day as a whole school community. At the Lavista Campus, students gathered on the field to read the United Nations original resolution and to sing "Light a Candle for Peace.” At the same time at the Scott Campus, students gathered and celebrated around their Peace Pole.
The work of creating peace takes place every day in our classrooms through conflict mediation, learning to share the limited materials, and deepening our understanding of humans in our own society and around the world. In Maria Montessori’s own words, “if we are among the men of good will who yearn for peace, we must lay the foundation for peace ourselves, by working for the social world of the child.”
