Georgia’s “Move Over” law states that the operator of a vehicle approaching a stationary authorized emergency vehicle displaying flashing yellow, amber, white, red, or blue lights shall approach with due caution and, absent other direction by a peace officer…move into a lane not adjacent to the authorized emergency vehicle if possible…or if not possible, prohibited by law, or unsafe, reduce to a reasonable and proper speed for the road and traffic conditions, which speed shall be less than the posted speed limit and be prepared to stop. In this photo, the tractor trailer could not safely move over due to existing traffic in the center lane so the vehicle slowed to a speed much less than the posted speed limit as it passed by. You can see how close the truck is to the traffic stop, the stationary vehicles, and ultimately, our officer. Move over or slow down because it’s the law. More importantly, move over or slow down for the safety of the emergency workers doing their jobs. #onewithourcommunity
