The Atlanta Metro Export Challenge (MEC) recently announced its 2024 cohort, consisting of ten metro Atlanta companies. This initiative provides financial support of $5,000 per company along with mentorship, aiding these businesses in their expansion into international markets through a tailored program and an opportunity to compete for additional funds at the annual Pitch Day event.
A press release by the Metro Atlanta Chamber revealed words from Katie Kirkpatrick, president & CEO of the Metro Atlanta Chamber (MAC), who said: "Supporting early-stage exporters is an important part of maintaining our region’s strength as a global trade hub. The Metro Export Challenge remains a priority for us, as it has become an integral part of metro Atlanta’s ecosystem. This new cohort of companies is a testament to the region’s growth as a center for global trade."
As indicated by the Metro Atlanta Chamber, the MEC celebrates three significant milestones this year: distributing over $800,000 in grant funding to assist small and mid-sized businesses in global business development; reintroducing Pitch Day; and forming partnerships with a record number of organizations and communities across the region.
The MEC ensures each company receives a $5,000 grant dedicated to various expenses vital for international business growth such as travel costs, trade show expenses, website adaptation costs among others. Furthermore, companies gain from personalized mentorship programs; flight vouchers provided by Delta Air Lines; and have the chance to participate in the annual Pitch Day event. Winning this competition may supply additional resources for their global expansion efforts.
This year's complete list of cohorts for the Atlanta Metro Export Challenge includes Blendz Apparel, CodeMettle, Cooper’s Gourmet, Dr. Noze Best, Eskaud, Koope, Progena Care Global, Shay Latte Coffee, Thought Horizon LLC and Trans Globe LLC.
Lastly, the Metro Atlanta Chamber aims at promoting regional growth and development. It focuses on multiple initiatives, such as enabling the establishment and expansion of businesses in the 29-county metro Atlanta area. Moreover, MAC works to strengthen connections within the innovation sector, contributing to Atlanta's entrepreneurial culture. The Chamber also aspires to lobby for a competitive business environment and to represent the interests of the business community in Atlanta.
