From March 15, 2023 post.

Now that the Comprehensive Plan Update is halfway through, Douglas County will introduce its draft land use concepts through a series of open house events in March and April.

“We had an impressive response from the community during the Kick-off in August 2022. The community was invited to share their vision for the future through various in-person and online engagement events,” said Douglas County Planning and Zoning Manager Allison Duncan. “We invite the public back to view the project on the Douglas County Happenings website now that the work has been completed.”

The Planning Department will be available to engage with the community during open house hours every Friday afternoon between March 17 and April 28, 2023. The Planning Department will also be on hand to share information at many other events, including District Town Halls and public meetings. A complete list is available on the project website. All drafts of the land use concepts are general online, and feedback can be provided through the website at https://www.celebratedouglascounty.com/727/Comprehensive-Plan-Update.

Public Outreach Tour Dates

The Douglas County Comprehensive Plan is required by State law to be updated every five years. This Plan will be completed by October 2023. The Comprehensive Plan anticipates future growth through the lens of land use, transportation, housing, and green space opportunities. It reflects the values of the community as expressed through a robust public engagement program. The final Plan will guide policy and decision-making by the county’s leadership.
