October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic Violence affects individuals in every community regardless of age, race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation or income level. You will see purple ribbons on the Douglas County Sheriff's Office's patrol vehicles in hopes of raising awareness about this epidemic, helping more victims become survivors, and empowering every member of the community to become an advocate.
