In the 2024-25 school year, New Manchester High School reported an enrollment of 74 white students—a decrease of 1.3% from the prior year—according to the Georgia Department of Education.

Total enrollment at New Manchester High School during 2024-25 reached 1,872, with white students representing 4% of the overall student body and ranking as the third-largest demographic at the school.

The high school is part of Douglas County School District, whose central office is located in Douglasville.

Among the district’s 35 schools, Alexander High School had the largest white student enrollment in 2024-25, totaling 695 students.

The National Center for Education Statistics shows that Georgia public school students were approximately 36.4% Black, 35.9% white, 18.1% Hispanic, 4% Asian, 4.6% multiracial, 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.1% Pacific Islander.

Georgia schools have continued to grapple with chronic absenteeism since the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing 10% or more of school days in 2024, the Georgia Department of Education reported. The agency initiated a statewide effort featuring a real-time attendance dashboard, public awareness outreach, and targeted supports for high-need districts to increase daily attendance.

State lawmakers passed legislation in 2025 updating attendance laws, including a ban on expulsion due solely to absenteeism and new reporting requirements. The law also supports alternative pathways for earning diplomas.

By 2026, Georgia’s average student-to-teacher ratio was about 14:1, which is better than the national average of 15:1.
