The Atlanta Falcons are set to face the Detroit Lions in their first preseason game of 2025 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Friday. The game will kick off at 7 p.m. ET.
While this is Atlanta’s preseason opener, the Lions have already played a preseason game, losing 34-7 to the Los Angeles Chargers in Canton, Ohio.
Falcons head coach Raheem Morris has announced that neither starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr. nor backup Kirk Cousins will participate in Friday’s matchup. However, rookies such as edge rusher Jalon Walker and James Pearce Jr., both first-round draft picks from April, are expected to play and could make their unofficial team debuts.
Fans can watch the game on FOX5 with Justin Kutcher handling play-by-play duties, joined by Coy Wire and D.J. Shockley as color analysts, and Jen Hale reporting from the sideline. For those within the Atlanta market, streaming is available via NFL+, while viewers outside the area can use DAZN for live coverage.
Radio broadcasts will be provided by 92.9 The Game, La Mejor, and SiriusXM Radio. Local radio commentary will feature Wes Durham on play-by-play and Dave Archer as color analyst.
