The Atlanta Falcons’ offensive line has been a model of consistency over the past three seasons, maintaining a stable lineup and contributing to one of the league’s most reliable running games. Entering the 2025 season, this unit is ranked as the eighth-best in the NFL by YahooSports, with all seven higher-ranked lines belonging to teams that made the playoffs in 2024.

For the first time in two years, the Falcons will introduce a new starter to their offensive line. However, this player is not unfamiliar with the team or its system, having previously started games for Atlanta. The team remains confident that this change will not disrupt their offensive line’s productivity, especially with quarterback Michael Penix Jr. relying on their protection.

The coaching staff includes Dwayne Ledford as run game coordinator and offensive line coach, assisted by Shawn Flaherty and Nick Jones. Returning starters are Jake Matthews, Matthew Bergeron, Ryan Neuzil, Chris Lindstrom, and Kaleb McGary. Newcomers include Jack Nelson, Matthew Cindric, Michael Gonzalez, Joshua Gray, Tyrone Wheatley Jr., Jordan Williams, and Kilian Zierer. The roster also features Storm Norton, Kyle Hinton, Brandon Parker, Elijah Wilkinson, and Jovaughn Gwyn. Drew Dalman has departed for the Chicago Bears after nine starts at center in 2024.

Three key questions face Atlanta’s offensive line this season:

1. How ready is Ryan Neuzil for the starting center role? With Drew Dalman’s departure and no external replacements sought during free agency or the draft, Neuzil steps into a full-time starting position he partially held in 2024 due to Dalman’s injury. His performance could influence future roster decisions.

2. How can the unit build upon its stretch-zone success? The Falcons’ offense relies on stretching defenses horizontally to create running opportunities for Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier. Chris Lindstrom’s ability to reach the second level of defense plays a crucial role in maintaining this strategy.

3. How does Kaleb McGary fare as Penix’s blindside protector? With Jake Matthews moving from left tackle to accommodate Penix’s left-handedness, McGary takes on new responsibilities protecting Penix’s blindside. Despite being known primarily for his run blocking skills, McGary has shown consistent improvement in pass protection over recent seasons.
