After months of anticipation, the Atlanta Falcons have confirmed the re-signing of center Ryan Neuzil. ESPN’s Adam Schefter initially reported that Neuzil and the Falcons had “reached agreement” on a new two-year contract valued at up to $9.5 million.
Neuzil, who was placed under a right-of-first-refusal tender as a restricted free agent in March, did not receive offers from other teams. His performance during the 2024 season has been noted as significant experience gained after stepping in for Drew Dalman following an ankle injury in Week 3. During this period, Neuzil started eight games with the Falcons achieving a 5-3 record and averaging 24 points per game.
Falcons head coach Raheem Morris expressed confidence in Neuzil’s abilities stating, “We had eight games that he was able to go out there and really be competitive and play at a very high level.” He further emphasized the positive impact of Neuzil’s practice performances and his developing continuity with quarterback Michael Penix Jr.
Entering his fifth season with the Falcons, Neuzil originally joined as an undrafted free agent in 2021. After spending his first year on the practice squad, he made his NFL debut in 2022 against the Los Angeles Chargers. By 2023, he participated in every game and earned multiple starts by season’s end.
With Drew Dalman now signed with the Chicago Bears, Neuzil is expected to assume full-time responsibilities as anchor of the offensive line. The Falcons have expressed confidence in his capabilities during Organized Team Activities (OTAs), particularly noting his synergy with Penix.
