Household water leaks are a significant issue in the United States, with nearly 1 trillion gallons of water wasted each year. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is addressing this problem by organizing Fix a Leak Week, which will take place from March 16 to 22, 2026. During this week, the EPA encourages residents to check their homes for leaks and offers resources on its website for guidance.

According to the EPA, “Visit https://www.epa.gov/watersense/fix-leak-week for more tips on how to check for leaks.”

In Paulding County, schools saw an enrollment increase of 1.3% during the 2022-23 academic year compared to the previous year. The total student enrollment reached 31,332 students in that period (https://www.gadoe.org/). Demographic data show that white students made up half of the county’s student body during the same school year (https://www.gadoe.org/), while black students were the second most represented group at 30% (https://www.gadoe.org/). Hispanic students accounted for 12% of enrollment (https://www.gadoe.org/), and multiracial students represented 6% (https://www.gadoe.org/).

The EPA’s campaign aims to reduce water waste by raising awareness and providing practical steps households can take.
